“The DeepGreen project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), would like to facilitate the second publication of scientific journal articles. The University Library (UB) Kiel at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) is one of 52 test users of the data hub. The freely accessible publication (open access) of scientific publications often fails due to the associated hurdles. This is exactly where DeepGreen comes in: It wants to make it possible to make scientific publications largely freely available after the so-called embargo periods between publication and publication, if permitted under license law. This is done using a specially developed data hub, to be able to report scientific articles for secondary publication via the publishers and to use the publication platforms of the institutions where the authors of the articles in question are located. CAU Vice President Professor Anja Pistor-Hatam sees this as a promising development for the strategic goal of Kiel University, “to strengthen the open access publishing practice – not least with a view to the applicable law for secondary publication.” …”

Förderung von Gold Open Access: Abkommen mit MDPI

From Google’s English:  “At the beginning of 2019, the new open access agreement between 15 Austrian research institutions, the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the Gold Open Access Publisher MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) came into force. The agreement enables scientists from these institutions to publish their articles in the publisher’s over 190 Gold Open Access journals using a simplified workflow and institutional cost management.
